100:1
Transliteration
WalAAadiyati dabha
Sahih International
By the racers, panting,
Muhsin Khan
By the (steeds) that run, with panting (breath),
Yusuf Ali
By the (Steeds) that run, with panting (breath),
Dr. Ghali
And (by) the snorting chargers,
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
By the chargers, the steeds that charge in attack and snort [with a], snorting — this being the [name of the] sound which they emit from inside them when they charge;

Transliteration
Falmooriyati qadha
Sahih International
And the producers of sparks [when] striking
Muhsin Khan
Striking sparks of fire (by their hooves),
Yusuf Ali
And strike sparks of fire,
Dr. Ghali
Then (by) the strikers (of fire) in sparks,
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
by the strikers, the steeds that strike fire [by way], of sparks, with their hoofs, when they gallop across rocky terrain by night;

Falmugheerati subha
Sahih International
And the chargers at dawn,
Muhsin Khan
And scouring to the raid at dawn
Yusuf Ali
And push home the charge in the morning,
Dr. Ghali
Then (by) the morning raiders,
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
by the dawn-raiders, the steeds that make raids against the enemy at dawn at the hands of their riders,

Transliteration
Faatharna bihi naqAAa
Sahih International
Stirring up thereby [clouds of] dust,
Muhsin Khan
And raise the dust in clouds the while,
Yusuf Ali
And raise the dust in clouds the while,
Dr. Ghali
So, they stir therewith a trail (of dust),
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
raising, stirring up, therein, in the place of their charge or at that time [of dawn], a trail of dust, by the power of their movement,

Transliteration
Fawasatna bihi jamAAa
Sahih International
Arriving thereby in the center collectively,
Muhsin Khan
Penetrating forthwith as one into the midst (of the foe);
Yusuf Ali
And penetrate forthwith into the midst (of the foe) en masse;-
Dr. Ghali
Then they push forward therewith into the midst of the (enemy) gathering-
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
cleaving therewith, with the dust, a host, of the enemy, that is to say, cutting right into their centre! (the verb is supplemented to the noun [in the above instances] because it serves to explain the verbal action, in other words, wa’ll?t? ‘adawna fa-awrayna fa-agharna, ‘by those that charge, then strike sparks, then raid’).

Transliteration
Inna al-insana lirabbihi lakanood
Sahih International
Indeed mankind, to his Lord, is ungrateful.
Muhsin Khan
Verily! Man (disbeliever) is ungrateful to his Lord;
Yusuf Ali
Truly man is, to his Lord, ungrateful;
Dr. Ghali
Surely man is indeed ungrateful to his Lord;
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
Verily man, the disbeliever, is ungrateful to his Lord, thankless, denying [the reality of] His graces, exalted be He,

Transliteration
Wa-innahu AAala thalikalashaheed
Sahih International
And indeed, he is to that a witness.
Muhsin Khan
And to that fact he bears witness (by his deeds);
Yusuf Ali
And to that (fact) he bears witness (by his deeds);
Dr. Ghali
And surely he is indeed a constant witness to that;
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
and verily to that, ingratitude of his, he is a witness, bearing witness against himself to his own actions.
100:8
100:8
Transliteration
Wa-innahu lihubbi alkhayri lashadeed
Sahih International
And indeed he is, in love of wealth, intense.
Muhsin Khan
And verily, he is violent in the love of wealth.
Yusuf Ali
And violent is he in his love of wealth.
Dr. Ghali
And surely he is indeed constantly (passionate) in his love for charity (i.e., good things).
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
And verily in the love of wealth he is avid, and is therefore niggardly with it.
100:9
100:9
Transliteration
Afala yaAAlamu itha buAAthira mafee alquboor
Sahih International
But does he not know that when the contents of the graves are scattered
Muhsin Khan
Knows he not that when the contents of the graves are brought out and poured forth (all mankind is resurrected).
Yusuf Ali
Does he not know,- when that which is in the graves is scattered abroad
Dr. Ghali
So, does he not know (that), when whatever is in the tombs is scattered away.
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
Does he not know that, when that which is in the graves, in the way of the dead, is strewn, when it is turned over and brought out, that is to say, [that when] they are raised,

Transliteration
Wahussila ma fee assudoor
Sahih International
And that within the breasts is obtained,
Muhsin Khan
And that which is in the breasts (of men) shall be made known.
Yusuf Ali
And that which is (locked up) in (human) breasts is made manifest-
Dr. Ghali
And whatever is in the breasts is sought out,
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
and that which is in the breasts, the hearts, of disbelief or faith, is obtained, [when] it is revealed and examined,

Transliteration
Inna rabbahum bihim yawma-ithinlakhabeer
Sahih International
Indeed, their Lord with them, that Day, is [fully] Acquainted.
Muhsin Khan
Verily, that Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) their Lord will be Well-Acquainted with them (as to their deeds), (and will reward them for their deeds).
Yusuf Ali
That their Lord had been Well-acquainted with them, (even to) that Day?
Dr. Ghali
Surely upon that Day their Lord is indeed of them Ever-Cognizant?
Tafsir al-Jalalayn
on that day their Lord will indeed be Aware of them, Knower [of them] and will requite them for their disbelief (the pronoun reverts to the plural because of the [collective] import of the term ‘man’; this sentence indicates the direct object of [the verb] ya‘lamu, ‘[does he not] know’, that is to say, ‘We will requite him at the time mentioned’; khab?run, ‘Aware’, is semantically connected to yawma’idhin, ‘on that day’, even though [in fact] God is ever Aware, because that is the Day of Requital.
