| 25:1 | Transliteration Tabaraka allathee nazzalaalfurqana AAala AAabdihi liyakoona lilAAalameenanatheera Sahih International Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His Servant that he may be to the worlds a warner - Muhsin Khan Blessed be He Who sent down the criterion (of right and wrong, i.e. this Quran) to His slave (Muhammad SAW) that he may be a warner to the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). Yusuf Ali Blessed is He who sent down the criterion to His servant, that it may be an admonition to all creatures;- Dr. Ghali Supremely Blessed is He Who has sent down the all-distinctive Criterion upon His bondman that he may be a warner to the worlds., | | 25:2 | Transliteration Allathee lahu mulku assamawatiwal-ardi walam yattakhith waladan walamyakun lahu shareekun fee almulki wakhalaqa kulla shay-infaqaddarahu taqdeera Sahih International He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and who has not taken a son and has not had a partner in dominion and has created each thing and determined it with [precise] determination. Muhsin Khan He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and Who has begotten no son (children or offspring) and for Whom there is no partner in the dominion. He has created everything, and has measured it exactly according to its due measurements. Yusuf Ali He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: no son has He begotten, nor has He a partner in His dominion: it is He who created all things, and ordered them in due proportions. Dr. Ghali To Whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and He has not taken to Him a child, and He has no associate in the Kingdom; and He created everything, so He has determined it an (exact) determination. | | 25:3 | Transliteration Wattakhathoo min doonihi alihatanla yakhluqoona shay-an wahum yukhlaqoona walayamlikoona li-anfusihim darran wala nafAAan walayamlikoona mawtan wala hayatan walanushoora Sahih International But they have taken besides Him gods which create nothing, while they are created, and possess not for themselves any harm or benefit and possess not [power to cause] death or life or resurrection. Muhsin Khan Yet they have taken besides Him other aliha (gods) that created nothing but are themselves created, and possess neither hurt nor benefit for themselves, and possess no power (of causing) death, nor (of giving) life, nor of raising the dead. Yusuf Ali Yet have they taken, besides him, gods that can create nothing but are themselves created; that have no control of hurt or good to themselves; nor can they control death nor life nor resurrection. Dr. Ghali And they have taken to themselves gods, apart from Him, that create nothing and themselves are created and possess for themselves, neither harm nor profit; neither do they possess death, nor life, nor uprising. (i.e., resurrection). | | 25:4 | Transliteration Waqala allatheena kafaroo in hathailla ifkun iftarahu waaAAanahu AAalayhiqawmun akharoona faqad jaoo thulmanwazoora Sahih International And those who disbelieve say, "This [Qur'an] is not except a falsehood he invented, and another people assisted him in it." But they have committed an injustice and a lie. Muhsin Khan Those who disbelieve say: "This (the Quran) is nothing but a lie that he (Muhammad SAW) has invented, and others have helped him at it, so that they have produced an unjust wrong (thing) and a lie." Yusuf Ali But the misbelievers say: "Naught is this but a lie which he has forged, and others have helped him at it." In truth it is they who have put forward an iniquity and a falsehood. Dr. Ghali And the ones who have disbelieved have said, "Decidedly this is nothing except a falsehood he has fabricated, and other people have helped him to it." So they have already come with injustice and forgery (i.e., they have committed injustice and forgery). | | 25:5 | Transliteration Waqaloo asateeru al-awwaleenaiktatabaha fahiya tumla AAalayhi bukratan waaseela Sahih International And they say, "Legends of the former peoples which he has written down, and they are dictated to him morning and afternoon." Muhsin Khan And they say: "Tales of the ancients, which he has written down, and they are dictated to him morning and afternoon." Yusuf Ali And they say: "Tales of the ancients, which he has caused to be written: and they are dictated before him morning and evening." Dr. Ghali And they have said, "Myths of the earliest (people) that he has had written down so that they are dictated to him before sunrise and at nightfall." | | 25:6 | Transliteration Qul anzalahu allathee yaAAlamu assirrafee assamawati wal-ardiinnahu kana ghafooran raheema Sahih International Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed by He who knows [every] secret within the heavens and the earth. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving and Merciful." Muhsin Khan Say: "It (this Quran) has been sent down by Him (Allah) (the Real Lord of the heavens and earth) Who knows the secret of the heavens and the earth. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." Yusuf Ali Say: "The (Qur'an) was sent down by Him who knows the mystery (that is) in the heavens and the earth: verily He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." Dr. Ghali Say, "He has sent it down, (He) who knows the secret in the heavens and the earth; surely He has been Ever-Forgiving, Ever-Merciful." | | 25:7 | Transliteration Waqaloo mali hatha arrasooliya/kulu attaAAama wayamshee fee al-aswaqilawla onzila ilayhi malakun fayakoona maAAahu natheera Sahih International And they say, "What is this messenger that eats food and walks in the markets? Why was there not sent down to him an angel so he would be with him a warner? Muhsin Khan And they say: "Why does this Messenger (Muhammad SAW) eat food, and walk about in the markets (like ourselves). Why is not an angel sent down to him to be a warner with him? Yusuf Ali And they say: "What sort of a messenger is this, who eats food, and walks through the streets? Why has not an angel been sent down to him to give admonition with him? Dr. Ghali And they have said, "What is it with this Messenger that he eats food and walks in the markets? Had there not been an Angel sent down to him, so that he would be a warner with him! | | 25:8 | Transliteration Aw yulqa ilayhi kanzun aw takoonu lahujannatun ya/kulu minha waqala aththalimoonain tattabiAAoona illa rajulan mashoora Sahih International Or [why is not] a treasure presented to him [from heaven], or does he [not] have a garden from which he eats?" And the wrongdoers say, "You follow not but a man affected by magic." Muhsin Khan "Or (why) has not a treasure been granted to him, or why has he not a garden whereof he may eat?" And the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.) say: "You follow none but a man bewitched." Yusuf Ali "Or (Why) has not a treasure been bestowed on him, or why has he (not) a garden for enjoyment?" The wicked say: "Ye follow none other than a man bewitched." Dr. Ghali Or (had there been) a hoarding (i.e., a treasure) cast down to him, or (had) there been to him a garden to eat of?" And the unjust (people) have said, "Decidedly you are only closely following a man bewitched!" | | 25:9 | Transliteration Onthur kayfa daraboolaka al-amthala fadalloo fala yastateeAAoonasabeela Sahih International Look how they strike for you comparisons; but they have strayed, so they cannot [find] a way. Muhsin Khan See how they coin similitudes for you, so they have gone astray, and they cannot find a (Right) Path. Yusuf Ali See what kinds of comparisons they make for thee! But they have gone astray, and never a way will they be able to find! Dr. Ghali Look how they strike similitudes for you, so they have erred away; then they are unable to (find) a way! | | 25:10 | Transliteration Tabaraka allathee in shaajaAAala laka khayran min thalika jannatin tajreemin tahtiha al-anharu wayajAAal laka qusoora Sahih International Blessed is He who, if He willed, could have made for you [something] better than that - gardens beneath which rivers flow - and could make for you palaces. Muhsin Khan Blessed be He Who, if He will, will assign you better than (all) that, - Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise) and will assign you palaces (i.e. in Paradise). Yusuf Ali Blessed is He who, if that were His will, could give thee better (things) than those,- Gardens beneath which rivers flow; and He could give thee palaces (secure to dwell in). Dr. Ghali Supremely Blessed is He Who, in case He decides, will make for you a more charitable (i.e., better) (thing) than that- gardens from beneath which rivers run-and He will make for you palaces. | | 25:11 | Transliteration Bal kaththaboo bissaAAatiwaaAAtadna liman kaththaba bissaAAatisaAAeera Sahih International But they have denied the Hour, and We have prepared for those who deny the Hour a Blaze. Muhsin Khan Nay, they deny the Hour (the Day of Resurrection), and for those who deny the Hour, We have prepared a flaming Fire (i.e. Hell). Yusuf Ali Nay they deny the hour (of the judgment to come): but We have prepared a blazing fire for such as deny the hour: Dr. Ghali Hour; and We have readied for him who cries lies to the Hour a Blaze. | | 25:12 | Transliteration Itha raat-hum min makaninbaAAeedin samiAAoo laha taghayyuthanwazafeera Sahih International When the Hellfire sees them from a distant place, they will hear its fury and roaring. Muhsin Khan When it (Hell) sees them from a far place, they will hear its raging and its roaring. Yusuf Ali When it sees them from a place fAr off, they will hear its fury and its ranging sigh. Dr. Ghali When it sees them from a far place, they will hear the (furious) raging and the groaning it has. | | 25:13 | Transliteration Wa-itha olqoo minha makanandayyiqan muqarraneena daAAaw hunalika thuboora Sahih International And when they are thrown into a narrow place therein bound in chains, they will cry out thereupon for destruction. Muhsin Khan And when they shall be thrown into a narrow place thereof, chained together, they will exclaim therein for destruction. Yusuf Ali And when they are cast, bound together into a constricted place therein, they will pLead for destruction there and then! Dr. Ghali And when they are cast in a strait place thereof, interlinked, they will call there for detriment (s). "Do not call today for one detriment, | | 25:14 | Transliteration La tadAAoo alyawma thubooran wahidanwadAAoo thubooran katheera Sahih International [They will be told], "Do not cry this Day for one destruction but cry for much destruction." Muhsin Khan Exclaim not today for one destruction, but exclaim for many destructions. Yusuf Ali "This day plead not for a single destruction: plead for destruction oft-repeated!" Dr. Ghali and call for many destructions." | | 25:15 | Transliteration Qul athalika khayrun am jannatualkhuldi allatee wuAAida almuttaqoona kanat lahum jazaanwamaseera Sahih International Say, "Is that better or the Garden of Eternity which is promised to the righteous? It will be for them a reward and destination. Muhsin Khan Say: (O Muhammad SAW) "Is that (torment) better or the Paradise of Eternity promised to the Muttaqun (pious and righteous persons - see V.2:2)?" It will be theirs as a reward and as a final destination. Yusuf Ali Say: "Is that best, or the eternal garden, promised to the righteous? for them, that is a reward as well as a goal (of attainment). Dr. Ghali (rather) the Garden of Eternity that is promised to the pious? It is for them a recompense and a Destiny." | | 25:16 | Transliteration Lahum feeha ma yashaoonakhalideena kana AAala rabbika waAAdanmas-oola Sahih International For them therein is whatever they wish, [while] abiding eternally. It is ever upon your Lord a promise [worthy to be] requested. Muhsin Khan For them there will be therein all that they desire, and they will abide (there forever). It is a promise binding upon your Lord that must be fulfilled. Yusuf Ali "For them there will be therein all that they wish for: they will dwell (there) for aye: A promise to be prayed for from thy Lord." Dr. Ghali promise upon your Lord, of Him to be asked (by His righteous bondmen). | | 25:17 | Transliteration Wayawma yahshuruhum wamayaAAbudoona min dooni Allahi fayaqoolu aantum adlaltumAAibadee haola-i am hum dalloo assabeel Sahih International And [mention] the Day He will gather them and that which they worship besides Allah and will say, "Did you mislead these, My servants, or did they [themselves] stray from the way?" Muhsin Khan And on the Day when He will gather them together and that which they worship besides Allah [idols, angels, pious men, saints, 'Iesa (Jesus) - son of Maryam (Mary), etc.]. He will say: "Was it you who misled these My slaves or did they (themselves) stray from the (Right) Path?" Yusuf Ali The day He will gather them together as well as those whom they worship besides Allah, He will ask: "Was it ye who let these My servants astray, or did they stray from the Path themselves?" Dr. Ghali Allah, then He will say, "Was it you who led these My bondmen into error, or did they themselves err away from the way?" | | 25:18 | Transliteration Qaloo subhanaka ma kanayanbaghee lana an nattakhitha min doonika min awliyaawalakin mattaAAtahum waabaahum hattanasoo aththikra wakanoo qawman boora Sahih International They will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for us to take besides You any allies. But You provided comforts for them and their fathers until they forgot the message and became a people ruined." Muhsin Khan They will say: "Glorified be You! It was not for us to take any Auliya' (Protectors, Helpers, etc.) besides You, but You gave them and their fathers comfort till they forgot the warning, and became a lost people (doomed to total loss). Yusuf Ali They will say: "Glory to Thee! not meet was it for us that we should take for protectors others besides Thee: But Thou didst bestow, on them and their fathers, good things (in life), until they forgot the Message: for they were a people (worthless and) lost." Dr. Ghali selves any patrons apart from You; but You gave them and their fathers enjoyment until they forgot the Remembrance and were a spoiled people." | | 25:19 | Transliteration Faqad kaththabookum bimataqooloona fama tastateeAAoona sarfan walanasran waman yathlim minkum nuthiqhuAAathaban kabeera Sahih International So they will deny you, [disbelievers], in what you say, and you cannot avert [punishment] or [find] help. And whoever commits injustice among you - We will make him taste a great punishment. Muhsin Khan Thus they (false gods all deities other than Allah) will give you (polytheists) the lie regarding what you say (that they are gods besides Allah), then you can neither avert (the punishment), nor get help. And whoever among you does wrong (i.e. sets up rivals to Allah), We shall make him taste a great torment. Yusuf Ali (Allah will say): "Now have they proved you liars in what ye say: so ye cannot avert (your penalty) nor (get) help." And whoever among you does wrong, him shall We cause to taste of a grievous Penalty. Dr. Ghali able either to turn it about or vindicate (yourselves). And whoever of you does injustice, We will make him taste a great torment. | | 25:20 | Transliteration Wama arsalna qablaka minaalmursaleena illa innahum laya/kuloona attaAAamawayamshoona fee al-aswaqi wajaAAalna baAAdakumlibaAAdin fitnatan atasbiroona wakanarabbuka baseera Sahih International And We did not send before you, [O Muhammad], any of the messengers except that they ate food and walked in the markets. And We have made some of you [people] as trial for others - will you have patience? And ever is your Lord, Seeing. Muhsin Khan And We never sent before you (O Muhammad SAW) any of the Messengers but verily, they ate food and walked in the markets. And We have made some of you as a trial for others: will you have patience? And your Lord is Ever All-Seer (of everything). Yusuf Ali And the messengers whom We sent before thee were all (men) who ate food and walked through the streets: We have made some of you as a trial for others: will ye have patience? for Allah is One Who sees (all things). Dr. Ghali indeed ate food and walked in the markets. And We have made some of you to be a temptation for (some) others. "Will you (endure) patiently?" And your Lord has been Ever-Beholding. | | 25:21 | Transliteration Waqala allatheena layarjoona liqaana lawla onzila AAalaynaalmala-ikatu aw nara rabbana laqadiistakbaroo fee anfusihim waAAataw AAutuwwan kabeera Sahih International And those who do not expect the meeting with Us say, "Why were not angels sent down to us, or [why] do we [not] see our Lord?" They have certainly become arrogant within themselves and [become] insolent with great insolence. Muhsin Khan And those who expect not for a Meeting with Us (i.e. those who deny the Day of Resurrection and the life of the Hereafter), say: "Why are not the angels sent down to us, or why do we not see our Lord?" Indeed they think too highly of themselves, and are scornful with great pride. Yusuf Ali Such as fear not the meeting with Us (for Judgment) say: "Why are not the angels sent down to us, or (why) do we not see our Lord?" Indeed they have an arrogant conceit of themselves, and mighty is the insolence of their impiety! Dr. Ghali And the ones who do not hope for a meeting with Us have said, "Had there been (the) Angels sent down upon us, or (had it been for us to) see our Lord!" Indeed they have already waxed proud within themselves and have rebelled a great rebellion. | | 25:22 | Transliteration Yawma yarawna almala-ikata labushra yawma-ithin lilmujrimeena wayaqooloona hijranmahjoora Sahih International The day they see the angels - no good tidings will there be that day for the criminals, and [the angels] will say, "Prevented and inaccessible." Muhsin Khan On the Day they will see the angels, no glad tidings will there be for the Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) that day. And they (angels) will say: "All kinds of glad tidings are forbidden for you," [None will be allowed to enter Paradise except the one who said: La ilaha ill-Allah, "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah) and acted practically on its legal orders and obligations]. Yusuf Ali The Day they see the angels,- no joy will there be to the sinners that Day: The (angels) will say: "There is a barrier forbidden (to you) altogether!" Dr. Ghali The Day that they see the Angels, no good tidings (will be) for the criminals upon that Day, and they will say, "An utter restriction!" (Literally: a restriction restricted; i.e., good news is, utterly restricted from the criminals) | | 25:23 | Transliteration Waqadimna ila maAAamiloo min AAamalin fajaAAalnahu habaan manthoora Sahih International And We will regard what they have done of deeds and make them as dust dispersed. Muhsin Khan And We shall turn to whatever deeds they (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) did, and We shall make such deeds as scattered floating particles of dust. Yusuf Ali And We shall turn to whatever deeds they did (in this life), and We shall make such deeds as floating dust scattered about. Dr. Ghali And We will go forward to whatever deed they have done and so make it a strewn motes. (i.e., dust) | | 25:24 | Transliteration As-habu aljannati yawma-ithinkhayrun mustaqarran waahsanu maqeela Sahih International The companions of Paradise, that Day, are [in] a better settlement and better resting place. Muhsin Khan The dwellers of Paradise (i.e. those who deserved it through their Faith and righteousness) will, on that Day, have the best abode, and have the fairest of places for repose. Yusuf Ali The Companions of the Garden will be well, that Day, in their abode, and have the fairest of places for repose. Dr. Ghali The companions (i.e., inhabitants) of the Garden upon that Day, more charitable (i.e., better) will be their repository, (i.e., dwelling habitation) and fairer their halting-place. | | 25:25 | Transliteration Wayawma tashaqqaqu assamao bilghamamiwanuzzila almala-ikatu tanzeela Sahih International And [mention] the Day when the heaven will split open with [emerging] clouds, and the angels will be sent down in successive descent. Muhsin Khan And (remember) the Day when the heaven shall be rent asunder with clouds, and the angels will be sent down, with a grand descending. Yusuf Ali The Day the heaven shall be rent asunder with clouds, and angels shall be sent down, descending (in ranks),- Dr. Ghali And the Day that the heaven is cloven with the mist and the Angels are sent down, a (successive) sending down. | | 25:26 | Transliteration Almulku yawma-ithin alhaqqu lirrahmaniwakana yawman AAala alkafireena AAaseera Sahih International True sovereignty, that Day, is for the Most Merciful. And it will be upon the disbelievers a difficult Day. Muhsin Khan The sovereignty on that Day will be the true (sovereignty), belonging to the Most Beneficent (Allah), and it will be a hard Day for the disbelievers (those who disbelieve in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism). Yusuf Ali That Day, the dominion as of right and truth, shall be (wholly) for (Allah) Most Merciful: it will be a Day of dire difficulty for the Misbelievers. Dr. Ghali The Kingdom, upon that Day, the true (Kingdom), will belong to The All-Merciful, and it will ever be a Day difficult for the disbelievers. | | 25:27 | Transliteration Wayawma yaAAaddu aththalimuAAala yadayhi yaqoolu ya laytanee ittakhathtumaAAa arrasooli sabeela Sahih International And the Day the wrongdoer will bite on his hands [in regret] he will say, "Oh, I wish I had taken with the Messenger a way. Muhsin Khan And (remember) the Day when the Zalim (wrong-doer, oppressor, polytheist, etc.) will bite at his hands, he will say: "Oh! Would that I had taken a path with the Messenger ( Muhammad SAW). Yusuf Ali The Day that the wrong-doer will bite at his hands, he will say, "Oh! would that I had taken a (straight) path with the Messenger! Dr. Ghali And the Day that the unjust (person) will bite at both his hands, (and) say, "Oh, would that I had taken to myself a way along with the Messenger. | | 25:28 | Transliteration Ya waylata laytanee lamattakhith fulanan khaleela Sahih International Oh, woe to me! I wish I had not taken that one as a friend. Muhsin Khan "Ah! Woe to me! Would that I had never taken so-and-so as a friend! Yusuf Ali "Ah! woe is me! Would that I had never taken such a one for a friend! Dr. Ghali Oh, woe to me! Would that I had not taken so-and-so to myself for a (close) fellow. | | 25:29 | Transliteration Laqad adallanee AAani aththikribaAAda ith jaanee wakana ashshaytanulil-insani khathoola Sahih International He led me away from the remembrance after it had come to me. And ever is Satan, to man, a deserter." Muhsin Khan "He indeed led me astray from the Reminder (this Quran) after it had come to me. And Shaitan (Satan) is ever a deserter to man in the hour of need." Yusuf Ali "He did lead me astray from the Message (of Allah) after it had come to me! Ah! the Evil One is but a traitor to man!" Dr. Ghali Indeed he readily made me err away from the Remembrance after it had come to me." And Ash-Shaytan (i.e., dwelling habitation) has been constantly abandoning man. | | 25:30 | Transliteration Waqala arrasoolu yarabbi inna qawmee ittakhathoo hatha alqur-anamahjoora Sahih International And the Messenger has said, "O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Qur'an as [a thing] abandoned." Muhsin Khan And the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) will say: "O my Lord! Verily, my people deserted this Quran (neither listened to it, nor acted on its laws and orders). Yusuf Ali Then the Messenger will say: "O my Lord! Truly my people took this Qur'an for just foolish nonsense." Dr. Ghali And the Messenger has said, "O Lord! Surely my people have taken to themselves this Qur'an as a thing to be forsaken." | | 25:31 | Transliteration Wakathalika jaAAalna likullinabiyyin AAaduwwan mina almujrimeena wakafa birabbika hadiyanwanaseera Sahih International And thus have We made for every prophet an enemy from among the criminals. But sufficient is your Lord as a guide and a helper. Muhsin Khan Thus have We made for every Prophet an enemy among the Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, criminals, etc.). But Sufficient is your Lord as a Guide and Helper. Yusuf Ali Thus have We made for every prophet an enemy among the sinners: but enough is thy Lord to guide and to help. Dr. Ghali And thus We have made to every Prophet an enemy among the criminals; and your Lord suffices as a Guide and an Ever-Vindicator. | | 25:32 | Transliteration Waqala allatheena kafaroo lawlanuzzila AAalayhi alqur-anu jumlatan wahidatan kathalikalinuthabbita bihi fu-adaka warattalnahu tarteela Sahih International And those who disbelieve say, "Why was the Qur'an not revealed to him all at once?" Thus [it is] that We may strengthen thereby your heart. And We have spaced it distinctly. Muhsin Khan And those who disbelieve say: "Why is not the Quran revealed to him all at once?" Thus (it is sent down in parts), that We may strengthen your heart thereby. And We have revealed it to you gradually, in stages. (It was revealed to the Prophet SAW in 23 years.). Yusuf Ali Those who reject Faith say: "Why is not the Qur'an revealed to him all at once? Thus (is it revealed), that We may strengthen thy heart thereby, and We have rehearsed it to thee in slow, well-arranged stages, gradually. Dr. Ghali And the ones who have disbelieved have said, "If only the Qur'an had been sent down upon him as one complete whole." Thus, that We may make firm your heart-sight thereby, and We have recited it in a (distinct) recitation. | | 25:33 | Transliteration Wala ya/toonaka bimathalin illaji/naka bilhaqqi waahsana tafseera Sahih International And they do not come to you with an argument except that We bring you the truth and the best explanation. Muhsin Khan And no example or similitude do they bring (to oppose or to find fault in you or in this Quran), but We reveal to you the truth (against that similitude or example), and the better explanation thereof. Yusuf Ali And no question do they bring to thee but We reveal to thee the truth and the best explanation (thereof). Dr. Ghali And they do not come up to you with any similitude, except that We come to you with the Truth and a fairer explanation. | | 25:34 | Transliteration Allatheena yuhsharoona AAalawujoohihim ila jahannama ola-ika sharrun makananwaadallu sabeela Sahih International The ones who are gathered on their faces to Hell - those are the worst in position and farthest astray in [their] way. Muhsin Khan Those who will be gathered to Hell (prone) on their faces, such will be in an evil state, and most astray from the (Straight) Path. Yusuf Ali Those who will be gathered to Hell (prone) on their faces,- they will be in an evil plight, and, as to Path, most astray. Dr. Ghali The ones who will be mustered to Hell upon their faces, those will be in an eviler place and will have (erred) further from the way. | | 25:35 | Transliteration Walaqad atayna moosaalkitaba wajaAAalna maAAahu akhahu haroonawazeera Sahih International And We had certainly given Moses the Scripture and appointed with him his brother Aaron as an assistant. Muhsin Khan And indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah)], and placed his brother Harun (Aaron) with him as a helper; Yusuf Ali (Before this,) We sent Moses The Book, and appointed his brother Aaron with him as minister; Dr. Ghali And indeed We already brought Musa (Moses) the Book, and We made with him his brother Harun (Aaron) as minister. | | 25:36 | Transliteration Faqulna ithhaba ilaalqawmi allatheena kaththaboo bi-ayatinafadammarnahum tadmeera Sahih International And We said, "Go both of you to the people who have denied Our signs." Then We destroyed them with [complete] destruction. Muhsin Khan And We said: "Go you both to the people who have denied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.)." Then We destroyed them with utter destruction. Yusuf Ali And We command: "Go ye both, to the people who have rejected our Signs:" And those (people) We destroyed with utter destruction. Dr. Ghali So We said, "Go you (both) to the people who have cried lies to Our signs." Then We destroyed them an utter destruction. | | 25:37 | Transliteration Waqawma noohin lamma kaththabooarrusula aghraqnahum wajaAAalnahum linnasiayatan waaAAtadna liththalimeenaAAathaban aleema Sahih International And the people of Noah - when they denied the messengers, We drowned them, and We made them for mankind a sign. And We have prepared for the wrongdoers a painful punishment. Muhsin Khan And Nuh's (Noah) people, when they denied the Messengers We drowned them, and We made them as a sign for mankind. And We have prepared a painful torment for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc). Yusuf Ali And the people of Noah,- when they rejected the messengers, We drowned them, and We made them as a Sign for mankind; and We have prepared for (all) wrong-doers a grievous Penalty;- Dr. Ghali And the people of Nuh, (Noah) as soon as they cried lies to the Messengers, We drowned them, and We made them to be a sign to mankind; and We have readied for the unjust a painful torment. | | 25:38 | Transliteration WaAAadan wathamooda waas-habaarrassi waquroonan bayna thalika katheera Sahih International And [We destroyed] 'Aad and Thamud and the companions of the well and many generations between them. Muhsin Khan And (also) 'Ad and Thamud, and the dwellers of Ar-Rass, and many generations in between. Yusuf Ali As also 'Ad and Thamud, and the Companions of the Rass, and many a generation between them. Dr. Ghali And Aad, and Thamûd, and the companions (i.e., inhabitants) of ÉAr-Rass, and between them (Literally: that) many generations. | | 25:39 | Transliteration Wakullan darabna lahu al-amthalawakullan tabbarna tatbeera Sahih International And for each We presented examples [as warnings], and each We destroyed with [total] destruction. Muhsin Khan And for each of them We put forward examples (as proofs and lessons, etc.), and each (of them) We brought to utter ruin (because of their disbelief and evil deeds). Yusuf Ali To each one We set forth Parables and examples; and each one We broke to utter annihilation (for their sins). Dr. Ghali And for each We struck similitudes, and each We annihilated utterly (Literally: annihilated annihilation). | | 25:40 | Transliteration Walaqad ataw AAala alqaryati allateeomtirat matara assaw-i afalam yakoonooyarawnaha bal kanoo la yarjoona nushoora Sahih International And they have already come upon the town which was showered with a rain of evil. So have they not seen it? But they are not expecting resurrection. Muhsin Khan And indeed they have passed by the town [of Prophet Lout (Lot)] on which was rained the evil rain. Did they (disbelievers) not then see it (with their own eyes)? Nay ! But they used not to expect for any resurrection. Yusuf Ali And the (Unbelievers) must indeed have passed by the town on which was rained a shower of evil: did they not then see it (with their own eyes)? But they fear not the Resurrection. Dr. Ghali And indeed they already came up to the town which was rained on by a woeful rain. Have they then not seen it? No indeed, (but) they did not hope for an uprising (i.e., resurrection). | | 25:41 | Transliteration Wa-itha raawka in yattakhithoonakailla huzuwan ahatha allathee baAAatha Allahurasoola Sahih International And when they see you, [O Muhammad], they take you not except in ridicule, [saying], "Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a messenger? Muhsin Khan And when they see you (O Muhammad SAW), they treat you only as a mockery (saying):"Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a Messenger? Yusuf Ali When they see thee, they treat thee no otherwise than in mockery: "Is this the one whom Allah has sent as a messenger?" Dr. Ghali And when they see you, they decidedly take you to themselves for nothing except in mockery, "Is this he whom Allah has sent forth as a Messenger? | | 25:42 | Transliteration In kada layudillunaAAan alihatina lawla an sabarnaAAalayha wasawfa yaAAlamoona heena yarawna alAAathabaman adallu sabeela Sahih International He almost would have misled us from our gods had we not been steadfast in [worship of] them." But they are going to know, when they see the punishment, who is farthest astray in [his] way. Muhsin Khan "He would have nearly misled us from our aliha (gods), had it not been that we were patient and constant in their worship!" And they will know when they see the torment, who it is that is most astray from the (Right) Path! Yusuf Ali "He indeed would well-nigh have misled us from our gods, had it not been that we were constant to them!" - Soon will they know, when they see the Penalty, who it is that is most misled in Path! Dr. Ghali Decidedly he had almost made us, indeed, to err away from our gods, had we not (suffered ourselves) to endure patiently with them." And eventually they will know, while they see the tornment, who has erred further from the way. | | 25:43 | Transliteration Araayta mani ittakhatha ilahahuhawahu afaanta takoonu AAalayhi wakeela Sahih International Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire? Then would you be responsible for him? Muhsin Khan Have you (O Muhammad SAW) seen him who has taken as his ilah (god) his own desire? Would you then be a Wakil (a disposer of his affairs or a watcher) over him? Yusuf Ali Seest thou such a one as taketh for his god his own passion (or impulse)? Couldst thou be a disposer of affairs for him? Dr. Ghali Have you seen him who has taken to himself his prejudice to be his god? Will you then be a constant trustee over him? | | 25:44 | Transliteration Am tahsabu anna aktharahumyasmaAAoona aw yaAAqiloona in hum illa kal-anAAamibal hum adallu sabeela Sahih International Or do you think that most of them hear or reason? They are not except like livestock. Rather, they are [even] more astray in [their] way. Muhsin Khan Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like cattle; nay, they are even farther astray from the Path. (i.e. even worst than cattle). Yusuf Ali Or thinkest thou that most of them listen or understand? They are only like cattle;- nay, they are worse astray in Path. Dr. Ghali Or even do you reckon that most of them hear or consider? Decidedly they are (nothing) except as the cattle. (Ancam inclues cattle, camels, sheep and goats) No indeed, they have erred further from the way. | | 25:45 | Transliteration Alam tara ila rabbika kayfa madda aththillawalaw shaa lajaAAalahu sakinan thumma jaAAalnaashshamsa AAalayhi daleela Sahih International Have you not considered your Lord - how He extends the shadow, and if He willed, He could have made it stationary? Then We made the sun for it an indication. Muhsin Khan Have you not seen how your Lord spread the shadow. If He willed, He could have made it still then We have made the sun its guide [i.e. after the sunrise, it (the shadow) squeezes and vanishes at midnoon and then again appears in the afternoon with the decline of the sun, and had there been no sun light, there would have been no shadow]. Yusuf Ali Hast thou not turned thy vision to thy Lord?- How He doth prolong the shadow! If He willed, He could make it stationary! then do We make the sun its guide; Dr. Ghali Have you not regarded your Lord, how He has extended the shade? And if He had so decided, He would indeed have made it still. Thereafter We made the sun a constant indicator of it. | | 25:46 | Transliteration Thumma qabadnahu ilaynaqabdan yaseera Sahih International Then We hold it in hand for a brief grasp. Muhsin Khan Then We withdraw it to Us a gradual concealed withdrawal. Yusuf Ali Then We draw it in towards Ourselves,- a contraction by easy stages. Dr. Ghali Thereafter We grasped it to Us, an easy (Or: gradual) grasping. | | 25:47 | Transliteration Wahuwa allathee jaAAala lakumuallayla libasan wannawma subatan wajaAAalaannahara nushoora Sahih International And it is He who has made the night for you as clothing and sleep [a means for] rest and has made the day a resurrection. Muhsin Khan And it is He Who makes the night a covering for you, and the sleep (as) repose, and makes the day Nushur (i.e. getting up and going about here and there for daily work, etc. after one's sleep at night or like resurrection after one's death). Yusuf Ali And He it is Who makes the Night as a Robe for you, and Sleep as Repose, and makes the Day (as it were) a Resurrection. Dr. Ghali And He is the One Who has made the night for you (to be) a garment and sleep for repose and has made day-time for rising. | | 25:48 | Transliteration Wahuwa allathee arsala arriyahabushran bayna yaday rahmatihi waanzalna mina assama-imaan tahoora Sahih International And it is He who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy, and We send down from the sky pure water Muhsin Khan And it is He Who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going before His Mercy (rain), and We send down pure water from the sky, Yusuf Ali And He it is Who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going before His mercy, and We send down pure water from the sky,- Dr. Ghali And He is the One Who has sent the winds, bearing good tidings before (Literally: between the two hands of His mercy) His mercy; and We have sent down from the heaven water most pure. | | 25:49 | Transliteration Linuhyiya bihi baldatan maytanwanusqiyahu mimma khalaqna anAAaman waanasiyyakatheera Sahih International That We may bring to life thereby a dead land and give it as drink to those We created of numerous livestock and men. Muhsin Khan That We may give life thereby to a dead land, and We give to drink thereof many of the cattle and men that We had created. Yusuf Ali That with it We may give life to a dead land, and slake the thirst of things We have created,- cattle and men in great numbers. Dr. Ghali That We may give life to a deceased country, and we make to drink of it, of whatever We created, many cattle and human beings. | | 25.50 | Transliteration Walaqad sarrafnahu baynahumliyaththakkaroo faaba aktharu annasiilla kufoora Sahih International And We have certainly distributed it among them that they might be reminded, but most of the people refuse except disbelief. Muhsin Khan And indeed We have distributed it (rain or water) amongst them in order that they may remember the Grace of Allah, but most men refuse (or deny the Truth or Faith) and accept nothing but disbelief or ingratitude. Yusuf Ali And We have distributed the (water) amongst them, in order that they may celebrate (our) praises, but most men are averse (to aught) but (rank) ingratitude. Dr. Ghali And indeed We have already propounded it among them so that they may constantly remember; yet most mankind refuse (anything) except constant disbelief. | | 25:51 | Transliteration Walaw shi/na labaAAathna feekulli qaryatin natheera Sahih International And if We had willed, We could have sent into every city a warner. Muhsin Khan And had We willed, We would have raised a warner in every town. Yusuf Ali Had it been Our Will, We could have sent a warner to every centre of population. Dr. Ghali And if We had so decided We would indeed have sent forth in every town a constant warner.. | | 25:52 | Transliteration Fala tutiAAi alkafireenawajahidhum bihi jihadan kabeera Sahih International So do not obey the disbelievers, and strive against them with the Qur'an a great striving. Muhsin Khan So obey not the disbelievers, but strive against them (by preaching) with the utmost endeavour, with it (the Quran). Yusuf Ali Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but strive against them with the utmost strenuousness, with the (Qur'an). Dr. Ghali So do not obey the disbelievers, and strive with them thereby with a constantly great striving. | | 25:53 | Transliteration Wahuwa allathee maraja albahraynihatha AAathbun furatun wahatha milhunojajun wajaAAala baynahuma barzakhan wahijranmahjoora Sahih International And it is He who has released [simultaneously] the two seas, one fresh and sweet and one salty and bitter, and He placed between them a barrier and prohibiting partition. Muhsin Khan And it is He Who has let free the two seas (kinds of water), one palatable and sweet, and the other salt and bitter, and He has set a barrier and a complete partition between them. Yusuf Ali It is He Who has let free the two bodies of flowing water: One palatable and sweet, and the other salt and bitter; yet has He made a barrier between them, a partition that is forbidden to be passed. Dr. Ghali And He is the One Who has merged the two seas, this one sweet, grateful (to taste), and this salt, bitter (to the tongue); and He has made between them an isthmus, and an utter- obstruction. (Literally: obstruction obstructed) | | 25:54 | Transliteration Wahuwa allathee khalaqa mina alma-ibasharan fajaAAalahu nasaban wasihran wakanarabbuka qadeera Sahih International And it is He who has created from water a human being and made him [a relative by] lineage and marriage. And ever is your Lord competent [concerning creation]. Muhsin Khan And it is He Who has created man from water, and has appointed for him kindred by blood, and kindred by marriage. And your Lord is Ever All-Powerful to do what He will. Yusuf Ali It is He Who has created man from water: then has He established relationships of lineage and marriage: for thy Lord has power (over all things). Dr. Ghali And He is The One Who created of water a mortal; so He has made him related by blood and marriage; and your Lord has been Ever-Determiner. | | 25:55 | Transliteration WayaAAbudoona min dooni Allahi mala yanfaAAuhum wala yadurruhum wakanaalkafiru AAala rabbihi thaheera Sahih International But they worship rather than Allah that which does not benefit them or harm them, and the disbeliever is ever, against his Lord, an assistant [to Satan]. Muhsin Khan And they (disbelievers, polytheists, etc.) worship besides Allah, that which can neither profit them nor harm them, and the disbeliever is ever a helper (of the Satan) against his Lord. Yusuf Ali Yet do they worship, besides Allah, things that can neither profit them nor harm them: and the Misbeliever is a helper (of Evil), against his own Lord! Dr. Ghali And they worship, apart from Allah, what neither profits them nor harms them; and the disbeliever has been a backer against his Lord. | | 25:56 | Transliteration Wama arsalnaka illamubashshiran wanatheera Sahih International And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a bringer of good tidings and a warner. Muhsin Khan And We have sent you (O Muhammad SAW ) only as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner. Yusuf Ali But thee We only sent to give glad tidings and admonition. Dr. Ghali And in no way have We sent you except (as) a bearer of good tidings and a constant warner. | | 25:57 | Transliteration Qul ma as-alukum AAalayhi min ajrinilla man shaa an yattakhitha ilarabbihi sabeela Sahih International Say, "I do not ask of you for it any payment - only that whoever wills might take to his Lord a way." Muhsin Khan Say: "No reward do I ask of you for this (that which I have brought from my Lord and its preaching, etc.), save that whosoever wills, may take a Path to his Lord. Yusuf Ali Say: "No reward do I ask of you for it but this: that each one who will may take a (straight) Path to his Lord." Dr. Ghali Say, "In no way do I ask of you (any) reward for it except for him who decides to take for (himself) a way to his Lord. | | 25:58 | Transliteration Watawakkal AAala alhayyi allatheela yamootu wasabbih bihamdihi wakafabihi bithunoobi AAibadihi khabeera Sahih International And rely upon the Ever-Living who does not die, and exalt [ Allah ] with His praise. And sufficient is He to be, with the sins of His servants, Acquainted - Muhsin Khan And put your trust (O Muhammad SAW) in the Ever Living One Who dies not, and glorify His Praises, and Sufficient is He as the All-Knower of the sins of His slaves; Yusuf Ali And put thy trust in Him Who lives and dies not; and celebrate his praise; and enough is He to be acquainted with the faults of His servants;- Dr. Ghali And put your trust in the Living Allah) Who does not die, and extol with His praise. And He suffices as The Ever-Cognizant of His bondmen's guilty deeds. | | 25:59 | Transliteration Allathee khalaqa assamawatiwal-arda wama baynahuma fee sittatiayyamin thumma istawa AAala alAAarshi arrahmanufas-al bihi khabeera Sahih International He who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days and then established Himself above the Throne - the Most Merciful, so ask about Him one well informed. Muhsin Khan Who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in six Days. Then He Istawa (rose over) the Throne (in a manner that suits His Majesty). The Most Beneficent (Allah)! Ask Him (O Prophet Muhammad SAW), (concerning His Qualities, His rising over His Throne, His creations, etc.), as He is Al-Khabir (The All-Knower of everything i.e. Allah). Yusuf Ali He Who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between, in six days, and is firmly established on the Throne (of Authority): Allah Most Gracious: ask thou, then, about Him of any acquainted (with such things). Dr. Ghali (He is the one) who created the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, in six days; thereafter He leveled Himself upon the Throne. (How He did so is beyond human understanding) (He is) The All-Merciful, so ask any cognizant of Him! | | 25:60 | Transliteration Wa-itha qeela lahumu osjudoo lirrahmaniqaloo wama arrahmanu anasjudulima ta/muruna wazadahum nufoora Sahih International And when it is said to them, "Prostrate to the Most Merciful," they say, "And what is the Most Merciful? Should we prostrate to that which you order us?" And it increases them in aversion. Muhsin Khan And when it is said to them: "Prostrate to the Most Beneficent (Allah)! They say: "And what is the Most Beneficent? Shall we fall down in prostration to that which you (O Muhammad SAW) command us?" And it increases in them only aversion. Yusuf Ali When it is said to them, "Prostrate to (Allah) Most Gracious!", they say, "And what is (Allah) Most Gracious? Shall we prostrate to that which thou commandest us?" And it increases their flight (from the Truth). Dr. Ghali And when it is said to them, "Prostrate yourselves to The All-Merciful, " they have said, "And what is The All-Merciful? Shall we prostrate ourselves to what you command us?" And it has increased them in repulsion. * A prostraion is to be peformed after reading this Éayah | | 25:61 | Transliteration Tabaraka allathee jaAAala feeassama-i buroojan wajaAAala feeha sirajanwaqamaran muneera Sahih International Blessed is He who has placed in the sky great stars and placed therein a [burning] lamp and luminous moon. Muhsin Khan Blessed be He Who has placed in the heaven big stars, and has placed therein a great lamp (sun), and a moon giving light. Yusuf Ali Blessed is He Who made constellations in the skies, and placed therein a Lamp and a Moon giving light; Dr. Ghali Supremely Blessed is He Who has made in the heaven constellations, and He has made therein a luminary and an enlightening moon. | | 25:62 | Transliteration Wahuwa allathee jaAAala allayla wannaharakhilfatan liman arada an yaththakkara aw aradashukoora Sahih International And it is He who has made the night and the day in succession for whoever desires to remember or desires gratitude. Muhsin Khan And He it is Who has put the night and the day in succession, for such who desires to remember or desires to show his gratitude. Yusuf Ali And it is He Who made the Night and the Day to follow each other: for such as have the will to celebrate His praises or to show their gratitude. Dr. Ghali And He is the One Who has made the night and day-time a succession for whomever is willing to constantly remember (Or: for whomever He wills to be mindful; or: whomever He wills) or whomever is willing to give constant thanks. | | 25:63 | Transliteration WaAAibadu arrahmaniallatheena yamshoona AAala al-ardi hawnanwa-itha khatabahumu aljahiloona qaloosalama Sahih International And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace, Muhsin Khan And the slaves of the Most Beneficent (Allah) are those who walk on the earth in humility and sedateness, and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness. Yusuf Ali And the servants of (Allah) Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say, "Peace!"; Dr. Ghali And the bondmen of The All-Merciful are the ones who walk on the earth gently, and when the ignorant address them, they say, "Peace!" | | 25:64 | Transliteration Wallatheena yabeetoonalirabbihim sujjadan waqiyama Sahih International And those who spend [part of] the night to their Lord prostrating and standing [in prayer] Muhsin Khan And those who spend the night before their Lord, prostrate and standing. Yusuf Ali Those who spend the night in adoration of their Lord prostrate and standing; Dr. Ghali And the ones who spend the night, (constantly) prostrating and upright to their lord. | | 25:65 | Transliteration Wallatheena yaqooloona rabbanaisrif AAanna AAathaba jahannama inna AAathabahakana gharama Sahih International And those who say, "Our Lord, avert from us the punishment of Hell. Indeed, its punishment is ever adhering; Muhsin Khan And those who say: "Our Lord! Avert from us the torment of Hell. Verily! Its torment is ever an inseparable, permanent punishment." Yusuf Ali Those who say, "Our Lord! avert from us the Wrath of Hell, for its Wrath is indeed an affliction grievous,- Dr. Ghali And the ones who say, "Our Lord, turn about (i.e., turn away) from us the torment of Hell; surely its torment is (really) a (grievous) penalty. | | 25:66 | Transliteration Innaha saat mustaqarran wamuqama Sahih International Indeed, it is evil as a settlement and residence." Muhsin Khan Evil indeed it (Hell) is as an abode and as a place to dwell. Yusuf Ali "Evil indeed is it as an abode, and as a place to rest in"; Dr. Ghali Surely odious it is as a repository and a stationing. | | 25:67 | Transliteration Wallatheena ithaanfaqoo lam yusrifoo walam yaqturoo wakana bayna thalikaqawama Sahih International And [they are] those who, when they spend, do so not excessively or sparingly but are ever, between that, [justly] moderate Muhsin Khan And those, who, when they spend, are neither extravagant nor niggardly, but hold a medium (way) between those (extremes). Yusuf Ali Those who, when they spend, are not extravagant and not niggardly, but hold a just (balance) between those (extremes); Dr. Ghali And the ones who, when they expend, are neither extravagant nor grudging; and between that is an upright (mean). | | 25:68 | Transliteration Wallatheena layadAAoona maAAa Allahi ilahan akharawala yaqtuloona annafsa allatee harrama Allahuilla bilhaqqi wala yaznoona wamanyafAAal thalika yalqa athama Sahih International And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty. Muhsin Khan And those who invoke not any other ilah (god) along with Allah, nor kill such life as Allah has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse and whoever does this shall receive the punishment. Yusuf Ali Those who invoke not, with Allah, any other god, nor slay such life as Allah has made sacred except for just cause, nor commit fornication; - and any that does this (not only) meets punishment. Dr. Ghali And the ones who do not invoke another god (along) with Allah, nor kill the self that Allah has prohibited except with the truth nor commit adultery; (i.e., illegal sexual intercourse) and whoever performs that will meet the penalty for vice. | | 25:69 | Transliteration YudaAAaf lahu alAAathabu yawmaalqiyamati wayakhlud feehi muhana Sahih International Multiplied for him is the punishment on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein humiliated - Muhsin Khan The torment will be doubled to him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein in disgrace; Yusuf Ali (But) the Penalty on the Day of Judgment will be doubled to him, and he will dwell therein in ignominy,- Dr. Ghali Doubled will be the torment for him on the Day of the Resurrection, and he will eternally (abide) therein degraded. | | 25:70 | Transliteration Illa man taba waamanawaAAamila AAamalan salihan faola-ikayubaddilu Allahu sayyi-atihim hasanatinwakana Allahu ghafooran raheema Sahih International Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful. Muhsin Khan Except those who repent and believe (in Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, for those, Allah will change their sins into good deeds, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Yusuf Ali Unless he repents, believes, and works righteous deeds, for Allah will change the evil of such persons into good, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful, Dr. Ghali Except him who repents, and believes, and does righteous deed (s). So those, Allah will turn (Or: substitue fair deeds in place of odious ones) their odious (deeds) into fair (deeds); and Allah has been Ever-Forgiving, Ever-Merciful. | | 25:71 | Transliteration Waman taba waAAamila salihanfa-innahu yatoobu ila Allahi mataba Sahih International And he who repents and does righteousness does indeed turn to Allah with [accepted] repentance. Muhsin Khan And whosoever repents and does righteous good deeds, then verily, he repents towards Allah with true repentance. Yusuf Ali And whoever repents and does good has truly turned to Allah with an (acceptable) conversion;- Dr. Ghali And whoever repents and does righteousness, then surely he repents to Allah a (true) repenting. | | 25:72 | Transliteration Wallatheena layashhadoona azzoora wa-itha marroo billaghwimarroo kirama Sahih International And [they are] those who do not testify to falsehood, and when they pass near ill speech, they pass by with dignity. Muhsin Khan And those who do not witness falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity. Yusuf Ali Those who witness no falsehood, and, if they pass by futility, they pass by it with honourable (avoidance); Dr. Ghali And who do not testify to false witness (i.e., illegal sexual intercourse) and, when they pass by idle talk, pass by honorably. | | 25:73 | Transliteration Wallatheena itha thukkiroobi-ayati rabbihim lam yakhirroo AAalayha summanwaAAumyana Sahih International And those who, when reminded of the verses of their Lord, do not fall upon them deaf and blind. Muhsin Khan And those who, when they are reminded of the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord, fall not deaf and blind thereat. Yusuf Ali Those who, when they are admonished with the Signs of their Lord, droop not down at them as if they were deaf or blind; Dr. Ghali And who, when they are reminded of the signs of their Lord, do not collapse there deaf and totally blind (Literally: all- blind). | | 25:74 | Transliteration Wallatheena yaqooloona rabbanahab lana min azwajina wathurriyyatinaqurrata aAAyunin wajAAalna lilmuttaqeena imama Sahih International And those who say, "Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous." Muhsin Khan And those who say: "Our Lord! Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for the Muttaqun" (pious - see V.2:2 and the footnote of V.3:164)." Yusuf Ali And those who pray, "Our Lord! Grant unto us wives and offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous." Dr. Ghali And who say, "Our Lord, bestow upon us from our spouses and offsprings comfort of the eyes, (Literally: the coolness (when)the eyes settle down) and make us an Éîmam (Leader) of the pious." | | 25:75 | Transliteration Ola-ika yujzawna alghurfata bimasabaroo wayulaqqawna feeha tahiyyatan wasalama Sahih International Those will be awarded the Chamber for what they patiently endured, and they will be received therein with greetings and [words of] peace. Muhsin Khan Those will be rewarded with the highest place (in Paradise) because of their patience. Therein they shall be met with greetings and the word of peace and respect. Yusuf Ali Those are the ones who will be rewarded with the highest place in heaven, because of their patient constancy: therein shall they be met with salutations and peace, Dr. Ghali Those will be recompensed with the compartment (s) for that they (endured) patiently, and they shall be granted therein a greeting and "Peace!" | | 25:76 | Transliteration Khalideena feeha hasunatmustaqarran wamuqama Sahih International Abiding eternally therein. Good is the settlement and residence. Muhsin Khan Abiding therein; excellent it is as an abode, and as a place to dwell. Yusuf Ali Dwelling therein;- how beautiful an abode and place of rest! Dr. Ghali Eternally (abiding) therein; fair it is as a repository and a stationing. | | 25:77 | Transliteration Qul ma yaAAbao bikum rabbee lawladuAAaokum faqad kaththabtum fasawfa yakoonu lizama Sahih International Say, "What would my Lord care for you if not for your supplication?" For you [disbelievers] have denied, so your denial is going to be adherent. Muhsin Khan Say (O Muhammad SAW to the disbelievers): "My Lord pays attention to you only because of your invocation to Him. But now you have indeed denied (Him). So the torment will be yours for ever (inseparable permanent punishment)." Yusuf Ali Say (to the Rejecters): "My Lord is not uneasy because of you if ye call not on Him: But ye have indeed rejected (Him), and soon will come the inevitable (punishment)!" Dr. Ghali Say, (To the disbelievers)" In no way would my Lord care for you were it not for your invocation. Yet you have cried lies, so it (Punishment) will eventually be an imposition. |
