| 26:3 | Transliteration LaAAallaka bakhiAAun nafsaka allayakoonoo mu/mineen Sahih International Perhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers. Muhsin Khan It may be that you (O Muhammad SAW) are going to kill yourself with grief, that they do not become believers [in your Risalah (Messengership) and in your Message of Islamic Monotheism]. Yusuf Ali It may be thou frettest thy soul with grief, that they do not become Believers. Dr. Ghali You would possibly consume yourself that they are not believers. |
| 26:4 | Transliteration In nasha/ nunazzil AAalayhim mina assama-iayatan fathallat aAAnaquhum lahakhadiAAeen Sahih International If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled. Muhsin Khan If We will, We could send down to them from the heaven a sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility. Yusuf Ali If (such) were Our Will, We could send down to them from the sky a Sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility. Dr. Ghali In case We (so) decide, We will be sending down on them from the heaven a sign so their necks linger subdued to it. |
| 26:5 | Transliteration Wama ya/teehim min thikrin minaarrahmani muhdathin illa kanooAAanhu muAArideen Sahih International And no revelation comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it. Muhsin Khan And never comes there unto them a Reminder as a recent revelation from the Most Beneficent (Allah), but they turn away therefrom. Yusuf Ali But there comes not to them a newly-revealed Message from (Allah) Most Gracious, but they turn away therefrom. Dr. Ghali And in no way does a recent Remembrance come up to them from The All-Merciful except they are veering away from it. |
| 26:6 | Transliteration Faqad kaththaboo fasaya/teehim anbaoma kanoo bihi yastahzi-oon Sahih International For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule. Muhsin Khan So they have indeed denied (the truth - this Quran), then the news of what they mocked at, will come to them. Yusuf Ali They have indeed rejected (the Message): so they will know soon (enough) the truth of what they mocked at! Dr. Ghali Then they have readily cried lies; so the tidings will soon come up to them of what they used to mock at. |
| 26:7 | Transliteration Awa lam yaraw ila al-ardi kamanbatna feeha min kulli zawjin kareem Sahih International Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind? Muhsin Khan Do they not observe the earth, how much of every good kind We cause to grow therein? Yusuf Ali Do they not look at the earth,- how many noble things of all kinds We have produced therein? Dr. Ghali And have they not regarded the earth, how many therein We have caused to grow of every honorable pair?. |
| 26:8 | Transliteration Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen Sahih International Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. Muhsin Khan Verily, in this is an Ayah (proof or sign), yet most of them (polytheists, pagans, etc., who do not believe in Resurrection) are not believers. Yusuf Ali Verily, in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. Dr. Ghali Surely in that is indeed a sign; and in no way were most of them believers. |
| 26:9 | Transliteration Wa-inna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu arraheem Sahih International And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. Muhsin Khan And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. Yusuf Ali And verily, thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. Dr. Ghali And surely your Lord, He is indeed The Ever Mighty, The Ever-Merciful. |

And my speech may not go (smoothly): so send unto Aaron. Dr. Ghali And my breast will be straitened, and my tongue will not be free. | 26:14 | Transliteration Walahum AAalayya thanbun faakhafuan yaqtuloon Sahih International And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me." Muhsin Khan "And they have a charge of crime against me, and I fear they will kill me." Yusuf Ali "And (further), they have a charge of crime against me; and I fear they may slay me." Dr. Ghali And they have a guilty deed against me; so I fear they will kill me." |
| 26:15 | Transliteration Qala kalla fathhababi-ayatina inna maAAakum mustamiAAoon Sahih International [ Allah ] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening. Muhsin Khan Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening. Yusuf Ali Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). | 26:18 | Transliteration Qala alam nurabbika feenawaleedan walabithta feena min AAumurika sineen Sahih International [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life? Muhsin Khan [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said [to Musa (Moses)]: "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you did dwell many years of your life with us. Yusuf Ali (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life? Dr. Ghali Said he, "Did we not rear you among us as a newborn, and did you not linger among us years of your age? |
| 26:19 | Transliteration WafaAAalta faAAlataka allatee faAAaltawaanta mina alkafireen Sahih International And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful." Muhsin Khan "And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man). And you are one of the ingrates." Yusuf Ali "And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!" Dr. Ghali And you performed the performance you performed and you were one of the disbelievers." |
| 26:20 | Transliteration Qala faAAaltuha ithanwaana mina addalleen Sahih International [Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray. Muhsin Khan Musa (Moses) said: "I did it then, when I was an ignorant (as regards my Lord and His Message). Yusuf Ali Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error. Dr. Ghali He (Musa) (Moses) said, "lo, I performed it and I was of the erring. |
| 26:21 | Transliteration Fafarartu minkum lamma khiftukumfawahaba lee rabbee hukman wajaAAalanee mina almursaleen Sahih International So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers. Muhsin Khan "So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukman (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and appointed me as one of the Messengers. Yusuf Ali "So I fled from you (all) when I feared you; but my Lord has (since) invested me with judgment (and wisdom) and appointed me as one of the messengers. Dr. Ghali So I fled from you as soon as I feared you. Then my Lord bestowed upon me judgment and He made me one of the Emissaries. |
| 26:22 | Transliteration Watilka niAAmatun tamunnuha AAalayyaan AAabbadta banee isra-eel Sahih International And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" Muhsin Khan "And this is the past favour with which you reproach me, that you have enslaved the Children of Israel." Yusuf Ali "And this is the favour with which thou dost reproach me,- that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel!" Dr. Ghali And is that a favor you oblige me with, that you have taken the Seeds (Or: sons) of Israel) as slaves." |
| 26:23 | Transliteration Qala firAAawnu wama rabbu alAAalameen Sahih International Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?" Muhsin Khan Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "And what is the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?" Yusuf Ali Pharaoh said: "And what is the 'Lord and Cherisher of the worlds'?" Dr. Ghali Firaawn (Pharaoh) said, "And what is The Lord of the worlds." |
| 26:24 | Transliteration Qala rabbu assamawatiwal-ardi wama baynahuma in kuntummooqineen Sahih International [Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced." Muhsin Khan Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, if you seek to be convinced with certainty." Yusuf Ali (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure." Dr. Ghali He said, "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them (both), in case you have certitude." |
| 26:25 | Transliteration Qala liman hawlahu alatastamiAAoon Sahih International [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?" Muhsin Khan Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Do you not hear (what he says)?" Yusuf Ali (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?" Dr. Ghali He said to the ones around him, "Do you not listen." |
| 26:26 | Transliteration Qala rabbukum warabbu aba-ikumual-awwaleen Sahih International [Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers." Muhsin Khan Musa (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers!" Yusuf Ali (Moses) said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers from the beginning!" Dr. Ghali He said, "Your Lord and The Lord of your earliest fathers." |
| 26:27 | Transliteration Qala inna rasoolakumu allatheeorsila ilaykum lamajnoon Sahih International [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad." Muhsin Khan Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!" Yusuf Ali (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!" Dr. Ghali He said, "Surely your Messenger who has been sent to you is indeed a madman." |
| 26:28 | Transliteration Qala rabbu almashriqi walmaghribiwama baynahuma in kuntum taAAqiloon Sahih International [Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason." Muhsin Khan Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!" Yusuf Ali (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!" Dr. Ghali He said, "The Lord of the east and the west and whatever is between them (both), in case you (can) consider." |
| 26:29 | Transliteration Qala la-ini ittakhathta ilahanghayree laajAAalannaka mina almasjooneen Sahih International [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned." Muhsin Khan Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "If you choose an ilah (god) other than me, I will certainly put you among the prisoners." Yusuf Ali (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" Dr. Ghali He said, "Indeed in case you take to yourself a god other than me, indeed I will definitely make you one of the imprisoned." |
| 26:30 | Transliteration Qala awa law ji/tuka bishay-in mubeen Sahih International [Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?" Muhsin Khan Musa (Moses) said: "Even if I bring you something manifest (and convincing)?" Yusuf Ali (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?" Dr. Ghali He said, "Even if I come to you with (some) thing evident?" |
| 26:31 | Transliteration Qala fa/ti bihi in kunta mina assadiqeen Sahih International [Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful." Muhsin Khan Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Bring it forth then, if you are of the truthful!" Yusuf Ali (Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!" Dr. Ghali He said, "Come up with it then, in case you are of the sincere ones." |
| 26:32 | Transliteration Faalqa AAasahu fa-ithahiya thuAAbanun mubeen Sahih International So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest. Muhsin Khan So [Musa (Moses)] threw his stick, and behold, it was a serpent, manifest. Yusuf Ali So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)! Dr. Ghali So he cast his staff, then, only then was it a (demonstrably) evident serpent. |
| 26:33 | Transliteration WanazaAAa yadahu fa-itha hiya baydaolinnathireen Sahih International And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers. Muhsin Khan And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! Yusuf Ali And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! Dr. Ghali And he drew out his hand, then, only then was it white to the onlookers. |
| 26:34 | Transliteration Qala lilmala-i hawlahu inna hathalasahirun AAaleem Sahih International [Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician. Muhsin Khan [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said to the chiefs around him: "Verily! This is indeed a well-versed sorcerer. Yusuf Ali (Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed: Dr. Ghali He (Firaawn) said to the chiefs around him, "Surely this is indeed a knowledgeable sorcerer. |
| 26:35 | Transliteration Yureedu an yukhrijakum min ardikumbisihrihi famatha ta/muroon Sahih International He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?" Muhsin Khan "He wants to drive you out of your land by his sorcery, then what is it your counsel, and what do you command?" Yusuf Ali "His plan is to get you out of your land by his sorcery; then what is it ye counsel?" Dr. Ghali Who would like to drive you out of your land by his sorcery; so what do you command?" |

| 26:37 | Transliteration Ya/tooka bikulli sahharin AAaleem Sahih International Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician." Muhsin Khan "To bring up to you every well-versed sorcerer." Yusuf Ali "And bring up to thee all (our) sorcerers well-versed." Dr. Ghali Who will come up to you with every crafty, knowledgeable sorcerer." |
| 26:38 | Transliteration FajumiAAa assaharatu limeeqatiyawmin maAAloom Sahih International So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day. Muhsin Khan So the sorcerers were assembled at a fixed time on a day appointed. Yusuf Ali So the sorcerers were got together for the appointment of a day well-known, Dr. Ghali So the sorcerers were gathered (together) for the fixed time on a known day. (A day of festival) |
| 26:39 | Transliteration Waqeela linnasi hal antummujtamiAAoon Sahih International And it was said to the people, "Will you congregate Muhsin Khan And it was said to the people: "Are you (too) going to assemble? Yusuf Ali And the people were told: "Are ye (now) assembled?- Dr. Ghali And it was said to the citizens, "Will you be gathered (together). |
| 26:40 | Transliteration LaAAallana nattabiAAu assaharatain kanoo humu alghalibeen Sahih International That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant?" Muhsin Khan "That we may follow the sorcerers [who were on Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) religion of disbelief] if they are the winners." Yusuf Ali "That we may follow the sorcerers (in religion) if they win?" Dr. Ghali That possibly we would closely follow the sorcerers, in case they are the ones who are the overcomers?" |
| 26:41 | Transliteration Falamma jaa assaharatuqaloo lifirAAawna a-inna lana laajran in kunnanahnu alghalibeen Sahih International And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant?" Muhsin Khan So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Fir'aun (Pharaoh): "Will there surely be a reward for us if we are the winners?" Yusuf Ali So when the sorcerers arrived, they said to Pharaoh: "Of course - shall we have a (suitable) reward if we win? Dr. Ghali Then, when the sorcerers came, they said to Firaawn, (Pharaoh) "will we surely have a reward indeed, in case we are the ones who are the overcomers?" |
| 26:42 | Transliteration Qala naAAam wa-innakum ithanlamina almuqarrabeen Sahih International He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]." Muhsin Khan He said: "Yes, and you shall then verily be of those brought near (to myself)." Yusuf Ali He said: "Yea, (and more),- for ye shall in that case be (raised to posts) nearest (to my person)." Dr. Ghali He said, "Yes, and lo indeed, surely you will be indeed among the near-stationed." |
| 26:43 | Transliteration Qala lahum moosa alqoo maantum mulqoon Sahih International Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw." Muhsin Khan Musa (Moses) said to them: "Throw what you are going to throw!" Yusuf Ali Moses said to them: "Throw ye - that which ye are about to throw!" Dr. Ghali Musa (Moses) said to them, "Cast you down whatever you will be casting." |
| 26:44 | Transliteration Faalqaw hibalahum waAAisiyyahumwaqaloo biAAizzati firAAawna inna lanahnualghaliboon Sahih International So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant." Muhsin Khan So they threw their ropes and their sticks, and said: "By the might of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), it is we who will certainly win!" Yusuf Ali So they threw their ropes and their rods, and said: "By the might of Pharaoh, it is we who will certainly win!" Dr. Ghali So they cast down their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Firaawn, we, surely we, will indeed be the overcomers." |
| 26:45 | Transliteration Faalqa moosa AAasahufa-itha hiya talqafu ma ya/fikoon Sahih International Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified. Muhsin Khan Then Musa (Moses) threw his stick, and behold, it swallowed up all the falsehoods which they showed! Yusuf Ali Then Moses threw his rod, when, behold, it straightway swallows up all the falsehoods which they fake! Dr. Ghali Then Musa cast down his staff, then, only then did it gulp whatever falshood they (showed). |
| 26:46 | Transliteration Faolqiya assaharatu sajideen Sahih International So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah ]. Muhsin Khan And the sorcerers fell down prostrate. | 26:49 | Transliteration Qala amantum lahu qabla an athanalakum innahu lakabeerukumu allathee AAallamakumu assihrafalasawfa taAAlamoona laoqattiAAanna aydiyakum waarjulakummin khilafin walaosallibannakum ajmaAAeen Sahih International [Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all." Muhsin Khan [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "You have believed in him before I give you leave. Surely, he indeed is your chief, who has taught you magic! So verily, you shall come to know. Verily, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will crucify you all." Yusuf Ali Said (Pharaoh): "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? surely he is your leader, who has taught you sorcery! but soon shall ye know! Be sure I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will cause you all to die on the cross!" Dr. Ghali He (Firaawn) said, "You have believed him before I give you permission. Surely he is indeed your great (master) who taught you sorcery. Yet indeed you will eventually know! Indeed I will definitely cut off (The form of the verb implies something done repeatedly, or to a high degree or great extent. (cf. surat yusuf 3 1) your hands and legs alternately, and indeed I will definitely crucify you all together." |
| 26.50 | Transliteration Qaloo la dayra innaila rabbina munqaliboon Sahih International They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return. Muhsin Khan They said: "No harm! Surely, to our Lord (Allah) we are to return; Yusuf Ali They said: "No matter! for us, we shall but return to our Lord! Dr. Ghali They said, "It is no trouble; surely to our Lord we are turning back. | 26:51 | Transliteration Inna natmaAAu an yaghfira lanarabbuna khatayana an kunnaawwala almu/mineen Sahih International Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers." Muhsin Khan "Verily! We really hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins, as we are the first of the believers [in Musa (Moses) and in the Monotheism which he has brought from Allah]." Muhsin Khan "And defraud not people by reducing their things, nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land. | 26:189 | Transliteration Fakaththaboohu faakhathahumAAathabu yawmi aththullati innahu kanaAAathaba yawmin AAatheem Sahih International And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day. Muhsin Khan But they belied him, so the torment of the day of shadow (a gloomy cloud) seized them, indeed that was the torment of a Great Day. Yusuf Ali But they rejected him. Then the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom seized them, and that was the Penalty of a Great Day. Dr. Ghali Yet they cried him lies; then the torment of the Day of the Overshadowing took them (away); surely it was the torment of a Tremendous Day. |
| 26:190 | Transliteration Inna fee thalika laayatan wamakana aktharuhum mu/mineen Sahih International Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. Muhsin Khan And verily, it (the Quran, and its revelation to Prophet Muhammad SAW) is (announced) in the Scriptures [i.e. the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] of former people. Yusuf Ali Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. Dr. Ghali And surely it is indeed in the Scriptures (Literally: Zubur, i.e. the Psalms) of the earliest (people). |

| 26:207 | Transliteration Ma aghna AAanhum ma kanooyumattaAAoon Sahih International They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. Muhsin Khan All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. Yusuf Ali It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! Dr. Ghali In no way will avail them whatever they had been given to enjoy. |
| 26:208 | Transliteration Wama ahlakna min qaryatin illalaha munthiroon Sahih International And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners Muhsin Khan And never did We destroy a township, but it had its warners Yusuf Ali Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners - Dr. Ghali And in no way did We cause (any) town to perish except that it had warners. |
| 26:209 | Transliteration Thikra wama kunnathalimeen Sahih International As a reminder; and never have We been unjust. Muhsin Khan By way of reminder, and We have never been unjust. | 26:210 | Transliteration Wama tanazzalat bihi ashshayateen Sahih International And the devils have not brought the revelation down. Muhsin Khan And it is not the Shayatin (devils) who have brought it (this Quran) down, Yusuf Ali No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): Dr. Ghali And in no way have Ash-Shayatin (The ever-Vicious (ones), i.e., the devils) been coming down with it; |
| 26:211 | Transliteration Wama yanbaghee lahum wamayastateeAAoon Sahih International It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able. Muhsin Khan Neither would it suit them, nor they can (produce it). Yusuf Ali It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). Dr. Ghali And in no way does it behoove them, And in no way are they able to do (that). |
| 26:212 | Transliteration Innahum AAani assamAAilamaAAzooloona Sahih International Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed. Muhsin Khan Verily, they have been removed far from hearing it. Yusuf Ali Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. Dr. Ghali Surely they are indeed kept apart from hearing. |
| 26:213 | Transliteration Fala tadAAu maAAa Allahi ilahanakhara fatakoona mina almuAAaththabeen Sahih International So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished. Muhsin Khan So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you be among those who receive punishment. Yusuf Ali So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. Dr. Ghali So do not invoke another god with Allah, then you should be of the tormented. |
| 26:214 | Transliteration Waanthir AAasheerataka al-aqrabeen Sahih International And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. Muhsin Khan And warn your tribe (O Muhammad SAW) of near kindred. Yusuf Ali And admonish thy nearest kinsmen, Dr. Ghali And warn your kinsmen, the nearest kin, |
| 26:215 | Transliteration Wakhfid janahakalimani ittabaAAaka mina almu/mineen Sahih International And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers. Muhsin Khan And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. Yusuf Ali And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. Dr. Ghali And lower your wing to the ones who closely follow you of the believers. |
| 26:216 | Transliteration Fa-in AAasawka faqul innee baree-onmimma taAAmaloon Sahih International And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing." Muhsin Khan Then if they disobey you, say: "I am innocent of what you do." Yusuf Ali Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!" Dr. Ghali Yet, in case they disobey you, then say, "Surely I am quit of whatever you do." |

| 26:219 | Transliteration Wataqallubaka fee assajideen Sahih International And your movement among those who prostrate. Muhsin Khan And your movements among those who fall prostrate (along with you to Allah in the five compulsory congregational prayers). Yusuf Ali And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves, Dr. Ghali And (Ever) your turning about among the prostrate. |

| 26:222 | Transliteration Tanazzalu AAala kulli affakinatheem Sahih International They descend upon every sinful liar. Muhsin Khan They descend on every lying (one who tells lies), sinful person. Yusuf Ali They descend on every lying, wicked person, Dr. Ghali They keep coming down on every most vicious (and) constant falsifier. |
| 26:223 | Transliteration Yulqoona assamAAa waaktharuhum kathiboon Sahih International They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. Muhsin Khan Who gives ear (to the devils and they pour what they may have heard of the unseen from the angels), and most of them are liars. Yusuf Ali (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. Dr. Ghali They are eager on hearing, and most of them are liars. |

| 26:225 | Transliteration Alam tara annahum fee kulli wadinyaheemoon Sahih International Do you not see that in every valley they roam Muhsin Khan See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? Yusuf Ali Seest thou not that they wander distracted in every valley?- Dr. Ghali Have you not seen that they wander in every valley, |
| 26:226 | Transliteration Waannahum yaqooloona ma layafAAaloon Sahih International And that they say what they do not do? - Muhsin Khan And that they say what they do not do. Yusuf Ali And that they say what they practise not?- Dr. Ghali And that they say what they do not perform? |
| 26:227 | Transliteration Illa allatheena amanoowaAAamiloo assalihati wathakaroo Allahakatheeran wantasaroo min baAAdi ma thulimoowasayaAAlamu allatheena thalamoo ayyamunqalabin yanqaliboon Sahih International Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. Muhsin Khan Except those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds, and remember Allah much, and reply back (in poetry) to the unjust poetry (which the pagan poets utter against the Muslims). And those who do wrong will come to know by what overturning they will be overturned. Yusuf Ali Except those who believe, work righteousness, engage much in the remembrance of Allah, and defend themselves only after they are unjustly attacked. And soon will the unjust assailants know what vicissitudes their affairs will take! Dr. Ghali Excepting the ones who have believed, and done deeds of righteousness, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves ever after being unjustly treated. And soon the ones who did injustice will know by whatever overturning they will be overturned. |
